Canada Post Potential Strike May 2025

Important Notice: Potential Canada Post Strike & Shipping Options

Dear Customers,

As you may be aware, Canada Post is facing the possibility of another strike starting May 22, 2025. This could lead to disruptions in parcel deliveries across the country, affecting businesses and individuals alike—including us at Blueseventy Canada

Why We Use Canada Post

Many customers have asked if we have a "Plan B" for shipping during the strike. While private carriers such as Purolator and FedEx are available, they do not fully meet our specific shipping needs. Canada Post remains our preferred provider because:

  • Coverage: Canada Post is the only service reaching many rural areas, including PO Boxes, where private carriers do not operate.
  • Security & Handling: Due to the value and delicate nature of our products, Canada Post offers key services such as signature-required deliveries and secure return to a local service point if the recipient is unavailable. These protections help ensure safe and reliable delivery.

Impact of the Strike on Small Businesses

While we fully respect the right of postal workers to advocate for their interests, it is important to acknowledge that Canada Post employees benefit from some of the best working conditions in the industry, including competitive salaries, job security, comprehensive health benefits, and pension plans (source).

As a small business, we operate under very different circumstances. Unlike large corporations or government entities, we do not have the luxury of extensive benefits or guaranteed protections. We work long hours in challenging conditions, striving to provide quality products and service to our customers, all while managing rising operational costs. Unfortunately, prolonged strikes in essential sectors disproportionately impact small businesses, limiting our ability to fulfill customer orders and maintain stability.

Shipping Options During the Strike

To continue serving our customers, we will be offering two shipping options:

  1. Canada Post (at the customer's own risk) – Deliveries may be delayed due to the strike, but this remains our most cost-effective solution.
  2. Purolator (at a higher rate) – An alternative for customers who prefer a more reliable service during this period. However, please note that Purolator does not offer the same discounted rates we have with Canada Post, meaning shipping costs will be higher.

Why No Free Shipping?

Shipping costs in Canada are significantly higher compared to the U.S., and while we subsidize a portion of these costs, we must remain fair to our retail partners. As such, we are unable to offer free shipping, but we strive to keep our rates as competitive as possible.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this situation. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact us at info@blueseventy.ca.

Best regards,
The Blueseventy Canada Team
